Apparently unique and with highly interesting Christian iconography
Lot 3558
ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. Anonymous issue. Pashiz (Bronze, 21 mm, 1.04 g, 12 h), a Christian post-sasanian fals, without mint, circa late 7th to early 8th century. Imperial bust facing, draped and crowned, holding cross in his left hand; around, pseudo legend. Rev. Long shaft with three crosses; around, pseudo legend; to left, bird standing to right before tree; to left, bird standing to left before . Gyselen -. Apparently unique and of great historical interest. Flan crack, otherwise, good very fine.

This highly interesting issue is somewhat reminiscent of Arab-Sasanian pashizs, except that it lacks the usual design and legends, boasting Christian iconography instead. It was likely issued by a Christian minority group in the East, who, as People of the Book, were generally treated favorably by the Islamic conquerors
